As summer began, Eveline’s due date grew ever nearer and she grew more contented every day as she contemplated being a mother again. She was hoping for a girl but a boy would not be a disappointment after all the trouble she had had bringing this child full term.

Since Lyndsay’s departure from the Marquis household things had changed considerably and only Lady Eveline preferred the more serious Sister Madeline to Lyndsay. In Sister Madeline, Eveline found an interested listener to all her hopes and dreams for a large family.
