Life carried on at Hope church in Lyndsay’s absence. Sister Madeline knew Lyndsay was enjoying her stay with the Marquis’ lending a hand to Eveline whilst she was pregnant, but Sister Madeline found she was really missing her. Lyndsay had been almost like a daughter to her and she would be missed just for that, but also she was realising all the things that Lyndsay had taken care of round the church.
Lyndsay had been good with customers in the little shop and Sister Madeline was noticing her takings were down, without Lyndsay persuasive charm which encouraged customers to be generous to their worthy cause.
It was also Lyndsay’s that had looked after the different herbs and medicine plants they grew and Sister Madeline wasn’t any good at tending them. Happily Sarah had volunteered to care for the plants. Sister Madeline was missing Lyndsay more than she would care to admit. It wasn’t just that she was missing her, but all that she represented. Sister Madeline had taken her in as her apprentice so that someone would be able to carry on her work when she was gone and now she didn’t know whether Lyndsay would come back or decide that she wanted a more traditional life and get married and have children.
Lyndsay didn’t have any money but she was a hard worker and would make a good wife. Growing up at Hope Church Lyndsay had been used to a very plain style of living and so Sister Madeline had no qualms that she would cope with being very poor, if she decided to marry. However nothing was decided yet, Lyndsay had a good six months left with the Marquis’ before she returned to the church. If Lyndsay did decide to move on Sister Madeline would have to think about maybe taking on another apprentice.
Sarah had been at Hope church for a few years now and Abigail was growing fast and she had such a look of her father and his ginger hair and pale skin that her parentage could not be doubted.
Sarah enjoyed being a mother but also found as Abigail grew older she reminded her more and more of her father. Sarah had heard about the birth of Eveline’s Asher and that she was now pregnant again. All this news just served to remind her of what she could have had as his wife and was now denied. She had volunteered a lot to work in the shop and had been chatting to the customers in the hope of finding herself a rich husband, but to no avail. She knew her chances for a good husband were very poor with her illegitimate child and no money to her name.
However Sarah didn’t believe in giving up. She was still young and was determined not to live her life as a nun which was the only other option for her. Sarah’s charms had worked on Lord Marquis and maybe she could use them to catch another man, this time more successfully.
Wow, this woman just doesn’t learn. Hope it doesn’t take her having another illegitimate child to make her realize the way to a mans heart is not through trickery and traps.
Yep, Sarah is a schemer. It will be interesting to see what other trouble she gets into.
Poor Sister Madeline, missing Lyndsay so much! It’s very funny how Abigail looks so much like Lord Marquis! I don’t feel much sympathy for Sarah but poor Abigail having a gold digger for a mother and a philander for a father! I do wonder if Sarah gets her way or not! I have no idea what’s going to happen to her next so it will be interesting to find out!
